Transformative Innovation Policy (TIP) in Practice
This spring 2024, Chalmers University offered a practical and network-building course on TIP for professionals involved in program development and evaluation at various governmental levels in Sweden.
The transition towards sustainability is changing the way we approach innovation policy.
A "transformative" innovation policy necessitates new tools and practices. It requires new knowledge, a common language around innovation and sustainable transformation, and forums for discussion, cooperation, and coordination among ministries, governmental agencies, and regional and local actors. It also requires a better understanding of how different efforts in innovation and sustainability can complement, overlap, or contradict each other.
The course focused on strengthening participants’ abilities to:
Understand what a transformative perspective on innovation policy means and how it differs from other established perspectives.
Analyse their own roles and innovation policy tools in relation to the roles and tools of other actors in regional, national, and global contexts.
Further develop various innovation policy tools and adapt them to transformative goals.
Initiate, implement, and evaluate programs, strategic plans, and tools to support a transformative agenda.
Registration is open for the 2025 edition of the course.
