Multi-Level Learning Journeys for Green and Just Regional Transformations
This project aims to leverage regional innovation policy to promote green and just transformations in a multi-level governance context.
To achieve this goal, the project explores and develops multilevel learning journeys, conceptualized as knowledge cocreation processes with policy makers, to better combine and coordinate policies at different levels of governance.
Focus

The team will experiment with learning journeys in relation to three specific areas:
-
Transformative innovation in rural areas.
-
Integrating a justice dimension into regional transformative innovation policy.
-
Multi-level missions for sustainable food.
Roadmap

Concretely, the team will:
-
Co-design learning journeys with key stakeholders in the three areas.
-
Engage in conversations with the wider group of stakeholders for each area.
-
Moderate a workshop as a space for learning and dialogue, identifying opportunities and challenges in governing green and just transformations across and between levels of governance and stakeholder groups.
-
Reflect on how such spaces for dialogue and learning can be best structured and institutionalized.

Expected outcomes

-
Actionable knowledge on embedding regional transformative innovation policies in a multi-level context.
-
A better understanding of the potential and limitations of transformative innovation policies at different governance levels.
-
Enhanced experience in organizing research in interaction activities, particularly learning with actors across levels.
-
Improved understanding and networking between researchers and policy makers.
-
Relevant and timely research outputs.
Target groups

The primary target groups are policy makers at different levels of governance.
-
Regional policy makers will gain insights into designing and implementing transformative regional innovation policies in multi-level governance contexts.
-
National and European policy makers will better understand how their interventions influence policy actions at sub-national levels.
-
Local policy makers will learn how to align local initiatives with regional transformative innovation policies.

SDG Contributions

The project primarily contributes to SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, while also addressing:

-
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
-
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
-
SDG 13: Climate Action
